Just recently Dusty and I had the opportunity to sneak away from the kids for a weekend and visit Del Mar, California (the cutest city just North of San Diego) and stayed at the most amazing L’Auberge Del Mar Resort. If you are looking for a Southern California vacation spot, this is your place. I am so excited to tell you all about our trip and share tons of fun photos so read on to check it out!
I am a huge advocate of getting away with your significant other (especially if you have children) at least once a year. Even if you can’t afford to take a trip than see if a family member or friends can take your kiddos for a few days and have a staycation! But…if you CAN sneak away, we HIGHLY recommend L’Auberge Del Mar.
Y’all…the views, the food, the drinks, the weather, the beach, the adorable town, the amazing spa, the list is endless. L’Auberge Del Mar is a luxury hotel located right in the heart of the most quaint beach village of Del Mar. It is only 20 minutes North of the San Diego airport and steps from the gorgeous Del Mar beaches.
Considering this was our first visit to San Diego, the first thing that blew me away is the amazing weather. San Diego actually has the country’s most temperate year round climate with the lowest temps in the high 40s and highest temps in the mid 80s while most of the year it remains comfortably in the 70s. Because of this, the resort almost always has the stunning floor to ceiling windows and doors wide open to let the breeze in. You walk into the lobby and the views of the ocean are breathtaking. The lobby bar, which is located right inside the main lobby, serves incredible hand-crafted cocktails.
The main patio where L’Auberge serves all of their amazing meals, overlooks the pool and the beach. It is truly where I witnessed some of the most gorgeous sunsets I have ever seen. Speaking of the food, it was AH-MAZING. I loved the convenience of not having to leave the resort for breakfast, lunch, or dinner if you didn’t want to. You could even order the food right to your room!
If you do feel like getting out, the city of Del Mar has some delicious restaurants within walking distance of the resort (including some right on the beach)! We even took a short drive to the cutest little brewery called Viewpoint that I was a big fan of.
Pool and Jacuzzi
If you love to hang out by the pool you definitely won’t be disappointed. They have a great pool with private cabanas (with TVs and mini refrigerators) that you can reserve. They also have a jacuzzi and a pool bar. Absolutely nothing was lacking.
The spa is housed in its own adorable building on the resort property and it is truly a renewing and relaxing space. They serve hot tea in the indoor/outdoor relaxation room and Dusty and I enjoyed hanging out in there before our Spa treatments. We both did the High Tide Hydration treatment featuring dry brushing, cocoa butter application, warm cocoon of blankets and an amazing scalp massage. After our treatment we both spent some time in the sauna. The spa has an impressive range of treatments to offer and I could have easily spent the whole day there!
6 Miles of Beaches
Right off the back of the resort is a short walkway to the beach so every morning Dusty and I grabbed some coffee and walked down on the beach (highly recommend). Moments like this tend to be my favorite. The resort sits on 6 miles of pristine beaches and I loved to watch everyone surfing.
Luxurious Hotel Rooms
At the end of the day, we loved escaping to our comfortable and beautiful hotel room! We had an amazing wrap around patio with breathtaking ocean views. The bathroom was luxurious with a huge shower, the bed was incredibly comfortable, and the whole thing was absolutely spotless. We could not have asked for anything more!
The resort was everything and more than we could have imagined for a perfect weekend away together and we cannot thank L’Auberge Del Mar enough for hosting us! Check out their website HERE to learn even more and to book your own stay at your “Home By The Sea”!
