Hey Mamas, feeling tired and run down? I feel you! You need a weekend escape to Fredericksburg! Fredericksburg is the Texas wine country just a little over an hour outside of Austin, TX. Even if you don’t drink wine, you would still LOVE it! It is the cutest German town full of adorable shops, great food, and incredible places to stay!
Speaking of places to stay, a few of my closest mom friends and myself escaped to the most adorable short term rental home called Klokker Haus which is one of the Escape to Fredericksburg properties. Escape to Fredericksburg is a luxury vacation rental group who was actually 1 of 5 in the US to win the Above and Beyond Award from VRBO/Home Away in 2018. Their attention to detail is unmatched and the properties are immaculate.
We absolutely fell in love with the Klokker Haus. It is a true luxury farmhouse experience! The home itself is new construction, 2 bedroom, 2 baths and sleeps up to 7 people. Check out a few photos of the house!
The home sits on a large piece of land where you can feed free range chickens, gather fresh eggs, give treats to the cow and her baby calf, and even pick pecans and fruit from the fruit trees! The chickens and cows were SO fun and friendly! Don’t worry, the cows are behind a fence but if you’re interested, it is fun to go pet and feed them.
One of our absolute favorite parts about the home was the incredible hot tub and outdoor fire pit. We spent most of the day on Saturday exploring the different wineries around town and wanted to just relax in the evening so the hot tub was perfect.
In the mornings we cooked breakfast with the fresh eggs! The fully equipped, gourmet kitchen was expansive and beautiful. I couldn’t get over the high ceilings in the living and kitchen area. If you get a wild hair you can even play shuffleboard on the full size shuffleboard table!
The home feels like you are a world away in the hill country. However, it’s truly only about 5 minutes from town where you can explore all of the incredible restaurants, shops, and wineries! Escape to Fredericksburg will be sure to provide you with recommendations for what to do and where to eat around town and we were SO grateful. All of the recommendations turned out amazing! We were even treated to some amazing cinnamon rolls from Butter Me Sweet, one of the incredible local bakeries!
Pro tip: if you are going to be exploring the many wineries, hire a driver! There are many Uber/Lyft drivers who will either rent a large car/van OR drive your own car (we took my suburban) for a very reasonable fee especially when split by 5 or 6 girls.
So trust me on this, grab some of your best gals, schedule in the time away and MAKE IT HAPPEN. If you don’t, it never will. Life gets busy and we just keep moving, as moms do. But you have to fill your own cup so that you can come home and be an even better Mom than you already are! You got this, Mama.
